At Globetrotters Academy, our mission is to nurture "Little Explorers" every day of the week. But we know that for parents in East Greenville and Pennsburg, the adventure doesn’t stop when the Friday afternoon pickup rolls around!
We are lucky to live in a corner of Montgomery County that is packed with nature, history, and family-friendly gems. Whether you are looking to burn off some toddler energy or find a quiet indoor escape, here is our "Teacher-Approved" guide to a perfect weekend in the Upper Perkiomen Valley.
1. The Playgrounds at Green Lane Park
Green Lane Park is the crown jewel of our area. For toddlers, we specifically recommend the Deep Creek Lake area. The playgrounds here are designed for various ages, and the soft mulch footing is great for new walkers.
Pro-Tip: Pack a stroller for the Red Trail. It’s mostly flat, scenic, and the perfect length for a "nature walk" before nap time.
2. Storytime at the Upper Perkiomen Valley Library
Located right in Red Hill, our local library is a sanctuary for young families. Their "Bookin' Moves" sessions are legendary among local parents—combining music, movement, and early literacy. It’s a great way for your child to socialize and for you to meet other local families.
3. Step Back in Time at the Schwenkfelder Heritage Center
It might sound "grown-up," but the Heritage Center in Pennsburg is incredibly welcoming to families. The bright colors of the Pennsylvania German folk art often fascinate toddlers, and the center frequently hosts seasonal family programs. It’s a great, quiet indoor option for those rainy PA mornings.
4. Movie Magic at The Grand Theater
Introduction to the "Big Screen" can be overwhelming, but the Grand Theater in East Greenville is the perfect place for a first movie. This beautifully restored 1924 theater is a community treasure. Their weekend matinees are budget-friendly, and the atmosphere is nostalgic and cozy.
Note: Remember to bring cash for the world-class popcorn!
5. Morning Fuel at The Valley Cafe
Before you start your adventure, stop by The Valley Cafe on Route 663. Voted "Best Family Restaurant" in the valley, they offer generous portions and a "friendliest place in town" vibe that makes you feel at home even if your toddler is having a "moment" over their pancakes.
The Adventure Doesn't Have to End on Sunday!
We believe that every day should be an opportunity for discovery. If you love the idea of your child exploring new cultures, learning a second language, and growing in a nurturing environment all week long, we’d love to meet you.
